There are some words you never want to use. These phrases contain in them uncanny power to make you weak. They are not the only ones. However, these are the selected phrases you should consider looking to avoid while correcting your vocabulary for achievement.
1. “I need…”
People often use the phrase “I need” while talking about something they want. The consequence of using the word “need” is that it only affirms that you don’t have what you are talking about and does not impact you to get.
The best alternative to this is to replace “I need…” with “I want…” ie. “I want to a million dollars”
“I want…” is a positive statement and it sets your intent into the direction of achieving what you desire.
2. “I must…”
Often times, people use the phrase “I must…” while trying to express commitment to a plan, target or goal. This consequently creates a desperate mindset at the expense of a relaxed mindset. Instead of saying “I must”, say “I should…” ie. “I should become a millionaire.”
3. “I can’t…”
You not say “I can’t” when you can say “I don’t”. This is common in situations where you want to emphasize your intention. For example, when you want to show how committed you are to your gym schedule. Instead of saying “I can’t miss my the gym”, say “I don’t miss the gym.” Because the latter is positive, relaxed and puts it into present.
4. “It’s not fair…'
It is common knowledge to every mature person that life is not fair. So complaining with the phrase “It’s not fair…” presents you as young or imature.
5. “I don’t know”
Sometimes people in organisations are asked about something important and the response they give is “I don’t know.” Using this phrase presents you as unresourceful and using it constantly causes you next time to not get the chance to be asked about a subject you are knowledgeable about.
The best response in such situations is to say “I don’t have that information right now.”
