Distance gives us a reason to love harder

One of the most tricky points in an entrepreneur’s life is balancing family relationship and business activities.

As an entrepreneur, often times you find yourself distant from family sometimes because of day to day occurrences such as wanting to stay motivated and focused by cultivating 24/7 obsession for your income generating activities, when you can’t get your family to take part in what you do or when you just are not in the right moods to engage in interactions other than those related to your line of business. This can sometimes be worse when you are the un married kind of entrepreneur.

Myself being a single Dad with a mother and a 3 year old son to look after, I find myself on several occasions avoiding visits to them. This can be disturbing to the mind since the main purpose of engaging in entrepreneurship is to develop not only myself but also the people close to me. But I have come to learn that for an entrepreneur to balance family life and business is to first of understand that it all relies on what you personally believe is the right thing to do. And to do whatever it takes to move forward even if it requires swallowing the red pill. Swallowing the red pill is basically accepting that in order to free yourself from current undesirable circumstances, you have got to be brave enough to do the things you don’t want, to be decisive in your actions and stay firm in your beliefs. Because through being firm in your beliefs, all doubts get erased and then you get to love your family from a distance and sacrifice for the great future you desire for them and for yourself. Doing this is made inevitable because you and your family are in most cases worlds apart in terms of mindsets which means that frequent meetings could lead to unhealthy arguments with one of you trying to change the other which could become a distraction. Therefore you have to trust them and also let them trust your activities too.
